Middle School Students Participate in the annual AATSP Poster Contest

Wish these fifth and sixth graders good luck (or buena suerte)! Their posters were selected to be entered into the state level of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) Poster Contest.
Working in pairs and independently, and under the guidance of Spanish teacher and world languages coordinator Vicky Masson, the students designed posters capturing this year's theme:  El español  y el portugués como lenguas globales: conexiones y oportunidades más allá del aula (Spanish and Portuguese as Global Languages: Connections and Opportunities in the Classroom and Beyond). Posters are first sent to the local AATSP chapter and then, if selected by judges, advance to the national competition. Stay tuned!

Last year, a poster created by two Norwood fifth graders won first place and another poster by a Norwood fifth grader won third place in the national competition. Students received a cash prize, certificate of achievement, ribbon, and recognition on the AATSP website.

The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) sponsors the poster contest each year to encourage cross-curricular collaboration, promote creative thinking, and celebrate visual learners and artistic expression.

UPDATE AS OF MAY 13! Three posters created by five Norwood students (two fifth graders and three sixth graders) have been selected to advance to national competition. Congratulations!
