Middle School Strings and Band Ensembles Win Big at the Hersheypark Music Festival

Congratulations to Norwood's middle school strings and band students who took home nine awards after performing in the adjudicated music festival held at Hersheypark on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
Awards included:

STRINGS
  • Best Overall Ensemble
  • 1st Place with Superior Ratings
  • Outstanding Section (Viola)
  • Outstanding Section (Double Bass)
  • Outstanding Solo (Norwood 8th Grader)
BAND
  • 2nd Place with Superior Ratings
  • Outstanding Section (Trombone)
  • Outstanding Solo (8th grader)
  • Outstanding Solo (7th Grader)
Strings teacher Devon Oviedo and band teacher Joe Cunliffe shared the following about the experience, “Our kids brought it! We can’t stop raving about how well they represented Norwood. They exemplified the highest level of maturity, teamwork, and thoughtful behavior.” 

After their performances, the musicians enjoyed "playing" at the amusement park for a much-deserved day of fun!
